The 7th International Conference on Selenium in the Environment and Human Health has successfully been held on September 23-27, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Plaza in Bangkok, Thailand. This conference attracted 114 participants, including 55 oral and 15 poster presentations. The local organizer and conference Chair Dr. Rochana Tangkoonboribun at Thailand Institute of Science and Technology Research was greatly appreciated for her outstanding contribution for making this conference a success.
Three students were selected for the best student oral presentation award and one for the best student poster presentation award at the 7th International Conference on Selenium in the Environment and Human Health that was held on September 23-27, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. Thank Professor Linxi Yuan at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China for his leadership and all judges including Dr. Li Li at USDA-ARS/Cornell University, Dr. Jean A Hall at Oregon State University, Dr. Andre dos Reis at São Paulo State University, Brazil, Dr. Xiaohu Zhao at Huazhong Agriculture University, China, Dr. Tao Yu at China University of Geosciences (Beijing), China, and Dr. Yongmin Xiong at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China.
Ms Hind Belarbi at Ghent University, Belgium received the Best Oral Presentation Award for the presentation entitled “Effectiveness of agronomic biofortification to enhance selenium concentrations in wheat flour and bread, and its bioaccessibility in the human gut” (Advisor: Gijs Du Laing).
Me. Nandhara Angelica at São Paulo State University, Brazil received the Best Oral Presentation Award for the presentation entitled “Sensitivity of bacillus strains to selenium dosage” (Advisor: Andre dos Reis).
Mr. Wenyao Shi at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China received the Best Oral Presentation Award for the presentation entitled “Exploring the interactions between Se and Cd in plants based on Se speciation perspective” (Advisor: Linxi Yuan).
Ms. Xiaoli Yang at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China received the Best Poster Presentation Award for the presentation entitled “Role of Se and selenoprotein in SIRT1-mediated chondrocyte apoptsis”. Her graduate advisor Dr. Yongmin Xiong accepted the award on her behalf.
